The astrological portrait can reveal information about a person's authentic vocation. Through the analysis of the astrological "type" an astrologer will find clues that relate information about ideal careers and career cycles or trends. The tenth house or the mid-heaven point in the chart will provide some indication of possible vocations, as well as the sixth house which provides information about work habits and the ideal work environment. Continuing this analysis, one must look at Saturn cycles and aspects to provide information about when to make career changes.

Yet, nothing is that simplistic. An astrologer needs to look at the personality, childhood experiences, (yes, the chart can provide this information) relationships with the mother and father, and then develop an overall Gestaldt or picture of the person. Like the Jungian, Myers-Briggs personality inventory, an astrologer looks at many factors within the natal chart to develop a career-personality "type". For example, some of this past century's strong political leaders, dictators and presidents alike had a strong Capricorn Sun or similar Capricorn (Saturn influence) to explain their incredible drive to the top. Mao Tse-tung, Stalin, Nixon, and LBJ were all strong Capricorn leaders.

Taking this to another level, the astrologer can evaluate the chart from a karmic perspective, by looking at the moon nodes and the twelfth house (spiritual, secret self) to see what "path" of service or what one's life work should be. As an example, those people who have a strong Sun or their moon node in the twelth house may find themselves working as spiritual healers and psychics.

Beyond the natal chart analysis, astrological forecasting can predict career trends and business cycles that will help in considering either career changes, establishing a new business, or actual work within a business or company. Business astrologers have used the Saturn cycles and the Capricorn/Cancer eclipse cycles to predict trends in the economy and particularly, real estate cycles. Sometimes an individual will work against a strong business cycle or economic trend which will seem as if one were a salmon swimming upstream. It does pay to seek the advice of an astrologer when the job or life itself becomes a struggle. An astrologer's guidance could be invaluable in making life-changing decisions.
